EUGENE, Ore. -- Things are changing at the Valley River Center.

One of the biggest changes is happening at the former Gottschalks space -- a bowling alley will be going in. Mall officials said Round1 will also offer arcade games, billiards, karaoke and food and drinks. It’s expected to open next winter.

Valley River spokeswoman Dani Olsen said their team has been working hard to find the right company to fill the vacancy.

"We wanted someone who would add to our existing retailers and bring in a really fun entertainment component," Olsen said. "Round1 is the perfect retailer for that."

Also, Forever 21 will be opening a new, larger location next to the grand new entrance and plaza of the mall in late spring.

“Valley River Center is excited to offer our shoppers a great experience both with Round 1 and the expansion of Forever 21,” Senior Property Manager Rob McOmie said. “Round1 and all its entertainment elements will provide endless hours of fun and appeal to all members of the Eugene community. Along with the new and enhanced Forever 21, these additions showcase the vibrancy of our shopping experience and the future of things to come at Valley River Center.”

The center’s new front entrance and plaza are expected to debut in spring.
