EUGENE, Ore. -- A Eugene furniture store and several adjacent businesses were damaged Wednesday night after a fire started in the back of the building.

Most of the damage was at Amish Traditions, 110 Oakway Road. Whitney Edman, who owns a business in the same strip mall, said there was smoke damage to her store but she is grateful for the quick response by firefighters.

"I'm so grateful for the fire department who responded so swiftly and to the bowling alley, our neighbors, who spotted it and called right away," Edman said.

Six businesses near the store experienced light smoke damage. No one was inside any of the stores during the fire.

The fire started just after 7:35 p.m. EWEB was also on scene helping with potential hazards.

Officials say it is too early to determine what caused the fire.
