Fire in Roseburg causes thousands in damage, officials say

The fire is believed to have been accidental, but officials are conducting an investigation.

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A commercial building caught fire Tuesday morning in Roseburg, and fire officials are investigating.

Firefighters responded to 2333 NE Diamond Lake Blvd. at about 7 a.m. Reports said black smoke was billowing out of one of the roll-up doors.

Crews extinguished the fire and ventilated the building.

Investigation indicates the fire was accidental, officials said.

The flames were contained to a storage area on site being used by Pearson's funeral home. Electricity was disconnected as a safety precaution. The damage is estimated at $15,000.

Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Roseburg police, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Pacific Power and Avista Utilities assisted.
