EUGENE, Ore. -- A senior official at the University of Oregon is expected to meet with business owners to discuss a perceived lack of law enforcement in downtown Eugene.

Matt Roberts, senior director for community relations at UO, will be at tonight's Eugene Wake Up meeting, according to Stephen Sheehan, leader of the group.

Sheehan said Roberts will speak along with elected officials from the city and Lane County.

The agenda includes small-group discussions on what he called "lawlessness" in the city's core.

"This has nothing to do with housing or homelessness," he said. "This is all about accountability and crime."

Sheehan said the meeting is open to the public, but only officials and business owners will be allowed to speak.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at RiverRidge Golf & Event Center, 3800 N. Delta Hwy.
