BROOKINGS, Ore. – Good Samaritans jumped in to rescue a man from an overturned boat on the Oregon Coast Wednesday morning.

An Army Corps of Engineers boat capsized near the Chetco River entrance.

Witnesses said one person made it to shore on their own but another person was trapped in the upside down boat.

Bystanders ran to help, pulling on a rope to pull the boat closer to shore until it was partially out of the water. Rescuers then moved in to save the man who was trapped.

It took about 45 minutes from start to finish to get him out of the water.

It’s unknown if he has any injuries, but he was able to walk on his own.
