SALEM, Ore.-- Everyone 18 years and older is now eligible for a COVID-19 booster shot in Oregon.

Oregon Health Authority authorized pharmacies, health clinics and other vaccine providers to begin administering boosters Saturday.

This comes after recommendations from the federal government and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Panel.

“Every adult who wants a booster can now get one and that is quite simply the extra layer of protection that we need,” said Rachael Banks, Public Health Director, Oregon Health Authority.

Vaccinated people are eligible for a booster dose 6 months after they completed their initial series of the Pfizer of Moderna vacccine.

For those who got their Johnson and Johnson, they can get their second dose two months after they've received the first one.
