Investigators said Jose Arnulfo Alvarenga Torres, 42, forced a woman in a red BMW off of the interstate after crashing into her. Torres then grabbed her by the throat and physically removed her from the car, according to OSP. They said the woman was able to run away with her keys.
Police said a driver pulled over, believing it was an accident, and was knocked down and almost ran over.
Torres ended up stealing a 2009 Toyota Corolla but was found a short time later by a Lane County deputy on Highway 58, according to OSP.
Torres was charged with robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Authorities said more charges may be filed.
