EUGENE, Ore. - As students head home for winter break, empty apartments can be tempting targets for thieves.

That's why the University of Oregon Police Department is inviting UO students who live near campus to sign up for their Vacation Watch program before to leaving for the academic break.

During the break, UOPD will check registered vacant residences daily as part of routine patrols.
