ROSEBURG, Ore.— The owners of Casey’s Restaurant have created a GoFundMe to help them fight the $14,000 citation they received from OSHA.

The restaurant was fined on May 14 for “willfully” disobeying Gov. Kate Brown's executive order, which banned restaurants from opening to sit-down service prior to phase one approval.

In an online post, the owners said they have an attorney and they will not accept the fines they received from OSHA.

They said they will be using the funds raised to pay for legal fees to fight the citation.

One Roseburg resident said they stand behind the owner’s decision.

“They tried to make a choice that was hopefully for their staff and for their own business to keep going,” said Joel Humphreys. “And it was a difficult choice.”

The owners said they specifically made the GoFundMe for the customers who have asked to donate in support.

They said any extra donations beyond legal fees will be donated back to the community.
