ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The City of Roseburg is accepting applications for their tourism grant program.

Officials said the grant program targets businesses and organizations that need funding for large events they’re hosting or new projects for the city.

However, the projects and events must be able to attract tourism to the area.

Officials said the grants will be paid for by the hotel/motel tax, which collects 8% from visitors who stay in the city.

“We want to be able to best utilize it,” said Stuart Cowie, the community development director for the City of Roseburg. “We hope that individuals continue to have events or start projects that the funding qualifies for.”

Officials said they run the grant program twice a year, in the winter and summer. They said they want to make sure they’re always funding community events with the hopes of being a tourist destination all year long.
