EUGENE, Ore.-- Former Oregon athlete Jordan Kent and Eugene Civic Alliance hosted the first event on the new turf field at Civic Park Sunday afternoon.
Children rotated between six sport stations around the field starting at 1 p.m., testing their skills at soccer, basketball, volleyball and more.
"When I look at the kids running around it's just joy. They have so much fun being here checking out all the different things you see the kids that are well versed in football and then they go over to yoga and have a wonderful time. That's really the goal; to expose kids to a lot of different activities because you never know what you're going to enjoy,"
Kent told KEZI 9 News he hopes the peopple of Eugene see Civic Park as a cornerstone of fun in the community.
Hundreds of kids and families participated in the event. Attendees were the first members of the public to explore the new turf field.
