WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Congressman Peter DeFazio will speak with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Wednesday about adding infrastructure projects to the next coronavirus relief bill.

DeFazio, who chairs the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, will be on a press conference phone call with Pelosi, Majority Whip James Clyburn, and Chairman Frank Pallone Jr. of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. The four will discuss potential ways to create jobs for Americans through infrastructure projects.

Pelosi also said in this next stimulus package, she wants more money to flow into extended unemployment programs, state and local governments, and hospitals.

Republican leaders on the hill said Congress should wait to see how the first relief package, signed by President Donald Trump on Friday, affects the economy.

Congress is on recess until April 20 but congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle said that could be shortened to vote on the next stimulus package.
