COOS COUNTY, Ore. – A convicted felon is in jail, accused of plotting to ambush deputies with a stolen gun after a crash.

On the morning of Sept. 20, the Coos County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle over an embankment in the area of milepost 8 on Seven Devils Road.

Deputies said when they arrived, they discovered Clinton Duncan, 44, had attempted to do a "doughnut" with his car before the car slid off the road.

The sheriff’s office said a passenger told them that Duncan had planned on waiting for authorities to arrive so he could ambush them.

Deputies said they found the stolen gun in the brush and believe it was intentionally thrown out after the crash.
