EUGENE, Ore. -- A Coos Bay man was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing sexually explicit images and videos of a 3-year-old child.
According to court documents, Keith James Atherton, 33, was taken into federal custody back in 2018 after an undercover agent suspected him of live streaming acts of child sex abuse on a video chat website.
Investigators seized more than 10 digital devices from Atherton that contained at least 35,000 images and 8,000 videos depicting abuse of infants, toddlers and young children.
On Feb. 24, 2021, Atherton pleaded guilty to using or attempting to use a minor to produce a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct.
Atherton was sentenced on Wednesday in federal court in Eugene to the maximum prison term of 30 years followed by a life term of supervised release. He must also register as a sex offender.
