COOS BAY, Ore. -- With the Coos County Fair underway, the sheriff’s office said they will have saturation patrols out looking for people driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The effort is paid for through a grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation, which is administered by the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association.

The sheriff’s office said intoxicants include alcoholic beverages, marijuana, illegal narcotics, prescription medication intended for use when not driving, substances such as spray paint used as an inhalant and more.

Local Drug Recognition Evaluators will be assisting patrol officers.
