COQUILLE, Ore. -- Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries after a Coos County deputy crashed into another vehicle near Coquille on Wednesday.
Oregon State Police said Zachary Olander, 26, was driving a sheriff’s office vehicle and hit a Nissan Sentra from behind on Oregon 42. Authorities said Olander didn’t see the vehicle.
Olander and the driver of the Nissan, Barbara Ross, 69, of North Bend, were taken to Bay Area Hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening.
The crash caused delays on the highway Wednesday afternoon. The road was clear by 5 p.m.
