COQUILLE, Ore.–Coquille Junior/Senior High School will close for three weeks after more COVID-19 cases were reported at the campus, according to school officials.

Staff will start working with families to set up distance learning on Monday, and everything should be ready for the switchover on Wednesday, district officials say.

The goal is to return to in-person learning on Oct. 11.

Superintendent Tim Sweeney stressed that in-person learning will continue at Lincoln School of Early Learning, Coquille Valley Elementary, Winter Lakes Elementary and Winter Lakes High School.

District officials say the new cases involve both the girls soccer and volleyball programs. Cases have also been reported in the football program.

All athletics for both the high school and junior high will be suspended during the shutdown.
