CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A Corvallis man is facing animal abuse charges after police say he kicked a puppy, killing it.
Corvallis police said they received a call Monday at about 6 p.m. from the wife of Junhyeok Jeong, 25.
Police said Jeong became angry at the 5-month-old Dachshund puppy on Monday because the dog wouldn’t stop barking. They said out of frustration he kicked a wall. When the dog continued to bark, he kicked it, causing serious injuries.
Jeong called his wife, who then called police, they said.
When officers arrived at the apartment in the 200 block of NE Conifer Boulevard, they said they found the dog wrapped in a blanket and tried to save the puppy’s life by performing CPR, but the dog died.
Jeong was arrested for first-degree animal abuse and was taken to the Benton County Jail. He is out on $12,000 bail.
