JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- A Corvallis man is dead after a crash near Junction City Wednesday night that shut down Highway 99W for hours, Oregon State Police said.
Police said Jeffery Taylor, 68, and his passenger Madeline Taylor, 66, both of Corvallis, were headed northbound in a Buick Rea when they were hit by a southbound vehicle near Lingo Lane. Jeffery’s vehicle then hit a telephone pole.
Jeffery was pronounced dead at the scene, and Madeline was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police said Carol Sedano, 56, of Waldport was driving the southbound vehicle, a Toyota Corolla. They said it’s not known what caused the vehicle to leave its lane and crash into the Buick Rea.
Sedano was taken by life flight to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Highway 99W was closed for about three hours after the crash.
The Oregon Department of Transportation, Junction City police and fire departments and Lane Fire Authority also assisted police.
