CORVALLIS, Ore. – Nurses at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center reached a tentative agreement with hospital administrators after a 20-hour contract mediation session Wednesday.
The 500 nurses at the hospital, represented by the Oregon Nurses Association, had been working without a contract since July of last year.
The new contract will address staffing and safety concerns.
Nurses will schedule a vote to approve the tentative agreement in the coming weeks. If approved, the new agreement will be effective immediately.
The nurses at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center had planned to hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday night had they not reached a deal.
The Oregon Nurses Association is the state's largest and most influential nursing organization. The ONA represents 15,000 nurses and allied health workers throughout the state.
