Police urge caution after new cougar sighting reported in Eugene

The caller said the cougar went into bushes near homes.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Another cougar sighting was reported Wednesday morning -- this time in the area of Hendricks Hill Drive and Riverview Street.

Eugene police said a person delivering papers in that area called in at 6:44 a.m. and said they spotted what appeared to be a cougar.

The caller added that the cougar went into bushes near homes.

The Central Lane Communications Center has contacted Oregon State Police. OSP and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife are investigating.

Eugene police urge residents to be cautious and observant and to keep pets close when in natural areas.
