EUGENE, Ore. – The two Portland residents charged with shooting and killing a Lane Community College student pleaded guilty Wednesday and will be sentenced next week.

Regis Deray Kindred and his wife, Kailee Von Foster, entered guilty pleas after a settlement conference in Lane County Circuit Court.

The two were charged with killing Alex Oyombe Gradin, 21, in a parking lot at 13th Avenue and Kincaid Street in Eugene.

Kindred, 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and Foster, 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter. Both will be sentenced Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m.

On May 4, 2019, police responded to multiple calls of shots fired at about 1:45 a.m. They found Gradin suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

At the time of the shooting police said it was gang-related, but that Gradin was not the target. The shots were fired into a crowded area in the parking lot behind Taylor’s Bar and Grill.
