KELLOGG, Ore.--- Crews responded to reports of a teen who fell in the Umpqua River near Yellow Creek Boat Ramp on Sunday around 7 p.m.
Reports indicated of a 15-year-old fell off an air mattress in the rapids and hadn't been seen since. On Monday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was unable to provide an update on the situation in light of the Independence Day holiday.
Some people camping nearby at Eagleview Group Campground heard sirens Sunday evening and said the water can be especially dangerous right now.
“This river changes constantly, so if you floated it before, with more water, you come back, it can be a completely different river at any given time,” said John Newsum.
Newsum said the water levels are also very low, making the conditions more perilous. Others camping nearby reported a party going on near the boat ramp Sunday night.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said to expect more information on the teen's condition on Tuesday.
