EUGENE, Ore. -- The Walmart store has reopened on Green Acres Road in Eugene after customers were being turned away due to flooding caused by a water main break.

Joe Harwood of EWEB said they got a call a little after 2 a.m. from Eugene police reporting a possible water main break behind the Walmart store.

The break was in a 12-inch pipe in the 2500 block of Norkenzie Road.

The water flowed to a drainage ditch that runs east and west on the north side of Beltline Road and from there flowed west into the Walmart parking lot and the interior of the east side of the building.

Walmart spokesman Payton McCormick said the flooding happened before the store was set to open at 6 a.m.

Damage was being assessed, and water was on the sales floor, McCormick added.

The water main break also affected 12 customers on Norkenzie Road. The customers experienced a water outage, and EWEB said they expected everyone to have their water back on by 4 p.m.
