MILLERSBURG, Ore. – A woman accused of stealing more than $300,000 from her mother’s retirement account is in jail in Linn County, Sheriff Jim Yon said.

Detectives arrested Mary Ellen Gray, 68, of Richland, Missouri, on Monday, and she was charged with first-degree aggravated theft and criminal mistreatment.

Adult Protective Services told the sheriff’s office that Gray had allegedly withdrawn thousands of dollars from an account belonging to her mother, Lena Fenn, 86, of Millersburg. Detectives then conducted an investigation.

Yon said financial records show Gray withdrew the money from the account over a two-year period and used the money for her own personal gain.

Gray moved to Missouri in 2017, but was back in Millersburg when detectives contacted her at her mother’s residence. She was lodged at the Linn County Jail.
