Demolition of Butterfly Lot kicks off $9.8M project

The actual construction of the pavilion and plaza is scheduled to begin in August.

EUGENE, Ore. – A $9.8 million project is underway in downtown Eugene, and it begins with a massive demolition of the Butterfly Parking Lot.

It’s happening on Oak Street between East 7th and 8th avenues.

Soon, the mound of rubble will be the new Park Blocks Pavilion and Plaza, as well as a permanent home for the Lane County Farmers Market, which will be year-round instead of seasonal and feature both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The actual construction of the pavilion and plaza is scheduled to begin in August.
