FLORENCE, Ore. – The suspect in a fatal stabbing outside Florence has been located by Oregon State Police.
KEZI 9 News has learned that the suspect, Gregory Cross, 32, was released from the Lane County Jail last Thursday. He had been booked into the jail on a parole violation.
The stabbing was reported on Friday at about 1 a.m. south of Florence and is being actively investigated. The victim was taken to the hospital but did not survive. Deputies are working to contact the victim’s family and have not released the victim's name.
Cross fled the area after the stabbing, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said. They searched for him Friday with the help of Florence Police, Oregon State Police, Eugene Police, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Reedsport Police.
