EUGENE, Ore. -- Deputies are warning boaters of a dangerous tree blocking the McKenzie River.

The massive cottonwood stretches from bank to bank. It’s lodged about half way between Bellinger Landing and the Hayden Bridge Boat Landing.

Marine Patrol deputies are working to clear it.

Officials encourage anyone planning to float the river to go to the Oregon State Marine Board’s website for a list of reported obstructions in rivers.
