Detectives close Whistler’s Bend noose investigation

ROSEBURG, Ore. – An investigation into a report of a noose found at Whistler’s Bend Park has ended, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident reportedly happened in late June. An African American Eugene man posted on social media that he found a noose next to his yurt.

The sheriff’s office learned of the post on June 22 and launched an investigation and asked the FBI to assist.

An “extensive amount of time and effort” was put into the case, the sheriff’s office said. As of now, the investigation has concluded “based upon all leads available to investigators.”

Authorities said if more information comes to light in the case, the investigation will be reopened.
