EUGENE, Ore. – A dog that was rescued from an island in the McKenzie River is now up for adoption at Greenhill Humane Society.
In late November, firefighters said a group of homeless people living on the island had to leave because of high water levels.
One man’s dog wouldn’t go with him, and was stuck there for more than a week. The man’s friend tried to use a mattress to float over to the dog, but had to be rescued himself.
On Dec. 1, crews were able to get to the dog and rescue him from the island.
The dog has been named Blondie, and will be up for adoption on Friday. He has been neutered and is up to date on all vaccinations.
