SUTHERLIN, Ore.— Classic car lovers have found a way to keep their traditions alive despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizers of next month’s Graffiti Weekend in Douglas County have canceled the event due to Gov. Kate Brown’s ban on large gatherings.

However, members of Street Memories Car Club have partnered with Douglas and Sutherlin high schools to host car parades as dozens of seniors graduate this weekend.
Organizers said they’ll be driving along with the graduates as they get their diplomas during their drive-through ceremonies.
“The community support is what I’m most looking forward to,” said Todd Woodward, president of the club. “People are gonna gather on the street, and cheer the students on and have a good time.”
Douglas High School’s ceremony will take place on Saturday, while Sutherlin High School’s will be on Sunday.
Woodward said anyone with a classic car is welcome to participate.
