DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Fire crews responded to two grass fires Thursday, and after investigating they believe they were power-line related.

The first grass fire was reported west of Sutherlin and the Douglas Forest Protective Association along with Douglas County Fire District #2 responded just before 3:30 p.m. near the 7000 block of Oakhill Road.

They said the fire was burning between a mowed hay field and Calapooya Creek.

It was stopped after burning one-fourth of an acre of grass and brush.

Then at 3:50 p.m., while fire crews were mopping up the grass fire on Oakhill Road, a second fire was reported seven miles west of Roseburg burning on the 4000 block of Melrose Road.

Douglas Forest Protective Association confirmed a crew from Seneca Jones Timber Company was passing by the fire and helped attack the blaze. The work crew stopped the fire from spreading by the time firefighters got to it.

The fire on Melrose Road burned one-tenth of an acre of grass.
