DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A Roseburg man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, causing her to bite through her lip and break her front teeth.
According to a Douglas County Sheriff's Office report, deputies were called to the Mercy Medical Center parking lot around 10:21 a.m. on Monday after Kalub Snyder, 20, reportedly texted 911 saying he did something bad.
After conducting separate interviews with the suspect and the victim, authorities learned the assault happened on the 900 block of Troost Street in Roseburg, authorities say.
The victim reportedly said she told Snyder he needed to get a job so they could move out of his parent's home. As she went to take a hit of marijuana off of her bong, she said she was struck on the back of her head and hit her face on the bong, breaking two of her front teeth and causing her to bite through her lip, deputies said. The victim reported that Syder told her he kicked her, but Snyder told a deputy he pushed her. She said the domestic violence had been an ongoing issue.
In a letter to the courts, Snyder's parents said they have been trying to get psychiatric help for their son but have been unsuccessful since he turned 18.
Snyder faces one count of second-degree assault and his bond is set at $50,000.
