ROSEBURG, Ore. – For the first time ever, Douglas County moved to moderate risk on Friday.
Under these new guidelines, gyms and indoor entertainment facilities can be open at 50 percent capacity or 100 people max.
The same rule applies for indoor dining at restaurants and bars.
At Loggers Tap House in Roseburg, owner Sam Gross said he’s excited about the downgrade because he’s hopeful it will bring in more customers in the long run.
“I’m hoping the community that has been concerned see that we’re in moderate and come out and dine in where they haven’t been doing it in extreme,” said Gross.
However, he says he worries it won’t last long.
“I’m actually pretty concerned that within the next two weeks we’ll be going back up a level,” he said. “Yesterday’s numbers and the day before were higher than they have been and everyone around us is in extreme, and so people like to travel when they can’t eat in their county.”
Despite the downgrade for Douglas County, Lane and Linn counties moved to extreme risk on Friday.
That means restaurants and bars have to shut down for indoor dining.
Douglas County will remain in moderate until May 6 when the county’s risk level will be re-evaluated.
