DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. – Douglas County residents affected by a wildfire can now seek free hazardous waste removal assistance.
The board of commissioners said residents who would like to receive help need to complete a right of entry form by Oct. 15. This form allows crews to access properties to clear them of hazards.
Officials said removing fire debris is a two step process. In the first step, properties are cleared of household hazardous waste to minimize exposure for the public. The second step involves removing ash and debris and burned-out structures.
The first step is set to begin and is being provided at no cost. More information on the second step will come soon, officials said.
