ROSEBURG, Ore. – An arrest has been made in a January fatal hit-and-run crash in Roseburg.

Hedge James Jarvis, 53, of Winchester has been identified as the driver in the crash that happened Jan. 15, deputies said. He was arrested Thursday and lodged in Douglas County Jail on charges of failing to perform the duties of a driver to an injured person, a Class B felony.

Stephen Bruce Galindo, 46, of Roseburg died of his injuries two days after being hit by the vehicle driven by Jarvis, deputies said. Galindo had been in a motorized scooter when he was struck in the 5000 block of NE Stephens Street. He was initially taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, then transferred to RiverBend Hospital in Eugene, where he died.

Jarvis, speaking through an attorney, reported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 16 that he was the driver of the vehicle in the fatal crash.

The investigation into the crash has been completed.
