HARRISBURG, Ore. -- The drunk driver who hit a Harrisburg teenager in December has been sentenced to nine months in jail.
Jimmy Holland lost his leg in the incident. Deputies say Holland's car was broken down on the side of Diamond Hill Drive, on December 26, 2018, when Jared Wayne Jones hit him.
Jones' blood alcohol content was 0.158, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.
Jones, 25, pleaded guilty to DUII, third degree assault and fourth degree assault on July 29, 2019.
According to court papers, his sentence was reduced to nine months in jail, with credit for time served for the third degree assault charge. The maximum penalty was 10 years and a fine of $250,000.
He's scheduled to get out of jail on March 18, 2020. He was also sentenced to three years of post-prison supervision.
A fundraiser for Jimmy Holland is going to be held Sept. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Veterans for Foreign Wars, 5344 Main Street, Springfield.
