Ducks football ready for a new challenge against Washington State

Oregon football returns home this weekend to play another Washington team. This time the Ducks will face a Washington State team that has had their number the past four years. But this year may be diffrent. Oregon is coming into the game 4-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time since 2013 while the Cougars sit at 1-3.

Washington State's defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys resigned two weeks ago but the Ducks aren't changing their game plan.

"That's one thing we took into consideration is the defensive coordinator that left a few weeks ago and there's a new guy calling it," explains offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo. "You probably don't full sale change everything and they've done a really great job adjusting. I don't think you can expect a whole lot of different stuff but I am taking it into consideration that there's a new guy there calling the plays."

"All their schemes are pretty much the same," running back Cyrus Habibi-Likio says. "They just stem a little less but the personnel, scheme is the same."

However, quarterback Justin Herbert and the team are not overlooking Wazzu head coach Mike Leach and the Cougars who have surprised people in the past.

"They've been a really good team and they've got a good team this year," says quarterback Justin Herbert. "I think they've got some athletic guys and good defenders. They play some different coverages and that's [what's different from Washington]."

Oregon is undefeated since its opening season loss to Auburn, and will look to continue their wave of success through players like wide receiver Jaylon Redd. Redd is currently tied for the longest streak in the nation with a receiving touchdown in each of the last six games.

The Ducks(6-1) and Cougars (4-3) kickoff at 7:30 PM this Saturday at Autzen Stadium.
