the team took donations Saturday and did a 50/50 raffle during the Elmira Holiday Invitational Wrestling tournament to help the family pay for medical expenses

The fundraiser was organized by parents of students who said the tragedy is every parent's worst nightmare.

"I have a 16-year-old boy myself and he is currently wrestling in this tournament right now and he's football and baseball player as well so it hit close to home," Said Elmira Baseball Coach Ryan Wolgmott. "When you see something like this happen it could happen at any time."

Organizers said they raised over $750. Pleasant Hill High School plans to hold a similar fundraiser next week.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the teenager and his family. To donate, click here.

Jared Watne Jones, the alleged drunk driver, is expected to be back in court on January 7th.
