FLORENCE, Ore. – An Elmira woman is dead after a crash on Highway 101 north of Florence.
Oregon State Police said troopers responded to a four-vehicle crash near milepost 182 on Friday just after noon.
Jessica Herselius, 39, of Elmira was reportedly headed north in a Dodge 1500 pickup and failed to yield to stopped traffic, sparking a chain reaction crash, according to investigators.
The pickup crashed into the rear of a Toyota Rav4 driven by Cynthia Bue, 61, of Elmira, which then struck a Mercedes Sprinter van driven by an Albany man. The van hit a Volkswagen Jetta driven by a Hubbard woman.
Bue was flown to RiverBend Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Herselius was taken to Peace Harbor Medical Center with injuries. The other two drivers were not injured.
The highway was closed for about an hour and a half.
