EUGENE, Ore -- One of the front windows at Coffee Plant Roaster in Eugene was boarded up Sunday afternoon, just a few hours after a car smashed into the building.
"It was definitely a really scary moment, especially with customers in the building and making sure they're okay," Coffee Plant Roasters shift lead Courtney Megison said.
Witnesses said the crash was loud and sent shards of glass into the restaurant and the parking lot.
"It sounded like somebody just threw down a case of glass or like a bomb went off or something," barista Jacob Jones said. "Everyone was just a little bit panicked."
Employees reported that they checked to make sure nobody was seriously injured and called police. They said two people were driven to urgent care by family members with minor injuries.
"We got very very lucky that none of those glass shards went anywhere else," Jones said. "I mean, we're just very happy and fortunate that everyone's okay."
Officials confirmed that no one was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. Sunday, according to police. Coffee Plant Roaster closed for the remainder of the day while employees cleaned up the glass and assessed the damage.
Employees said the store may reopen tomorrow for business.
