EUGENE, Ore.-- There's a new parking option that can save travelers some money if they're flying out of the Eugene Airport.

The lot itself isn't new. It's the old overflow lot. Now, it serves as a cheaper, $10 per day, option for travelers. They can then take a short shuttle to the terminal.

A spokesperson for the airport tells KEZI it's not too far of a ride.

"Usually at a larger airport, the economy lot is the one way out and you have to take a long bus ride in, this one is pretty convenient," Cathryn Stephens, Assistant Airport Director, said.

The shuttle stops by every 5 to 7 minutes, and will pick travelers up from the terminal, when they land back in Eugene. The lot has been fairly busy since it opened.

Travelers told KEZI they like that it's an easy way to save money.

"The shuttle just helps save a little bit of money and it doesn't really take that long. It's just across the street. Always looking to, when we're traveling for work, be most efficient for the finances," David Baker said.

If you're parking in the short-term, or long-term lots, you'll notice the prices have gone up. What used to cost you $10 per day in the long term lot, will now cost you $12.  KEZI asked Stephens how they justify upping the prices.

"We benchmark ourselves against airports of similar size across the whole country. So we know we're generally in line with airports of similar size," Stephens said. According to Stephens, prices at the Eugene Airport are still cheaper than in Portland, where you'll pay $21 per day for long-term parking.
