EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene City Councilor Betty Taylor announced Monday evening within the first few minutes of the Eugene City Council work session that she is retiring at the end of her term in January 2021.

The 94-year-old will not seek re-election to represent Ward 2, which she has represented since 1996.

When she made the announcement, Taylor said only that she was retiring and that she’s “not trying to designate a successor.”
