EUGENE, Ore. – The Eugene Public Library will restart two services that have been suspended during the pandemic.

Starting on Monday, June 15, the library will notify cardholders with items on hold to make appointments for curbside pick-up.

The cardholders will be contacted by email, phone, or text. Curbside pick-up appointments will be made at the cardholder’s regular library location: The Downtown Library, Bethel Branch, or Sheldon Branch.

The library estimates it will take a few weeks to get through the backlog of more than 5,000 items that had been requested in the past months.

Also starting on Monday, June 15, outside book returns at the Downtown Library will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturdays.

Items borrowed from any location may be returned Downtown. The book returns at Bethel and Sheldon branches will remain closed for now.

Members who are returning items are advised to wait to make their return in order to avoid an overwhelming number of returns all at once. All items now on loan have had their due dates extended to Sept. 14.

No overdue fines are being charged during this time.
