Gas leak leads to evacuation in Eugene

Officials said 28th Avenue and Adams Street was closed due to the situation.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a gas leak in Eugene around noon on Monday.

A construction crew was digging in the area and hit a gas line, and the leak was stopped about an hour later.

About four to six people on Adams Street between 28th and 29th avenues were evacuated from the area. Officials said 28th Avenue and Adams Street was closed due to the situation. 

NW Natural had someone checking to ensure the leak did not affect houses in the area.
