Eugene clearing large homeless camp at park

A spokesperson told KEZI 9 News homeless people have been coming into the city from all parts of the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the country.

EUGENE, Ore. – The City of Eugene is clearing an enormous homeless camp at Washington Jefferson Park on Wednesday.

Ever since the city stopped its no camping enforcement at the beginning of the pandemic, parks and recreation said they’ve been seeing the homeless population explode.

A spokesperson told KEZI 9 News homeless people have been coming into the city from all parts of the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the country.

Two weeks ago, the city reinstated the ban and officials said they are going to start clearing camps.
