Eugene finalizes deal with EWEB for riverfront development

The city wants to transform the property into a community space.

EUGENE, Ore. – A deal has gone through between EWEB and the city of Eugene that will help transform 16 acres of riverfront property into a vibrant neighborhood.

The deal will connect downtown Eugene with the largely vacant riverfront property.

City leaders want to transform the underutilized land along the Willamette River to a place where the community gathers, including a riverfront park.

The city hopes to have it ready for the 2021 World Track and Field Championships in Eugene.

Officials have already started designing the park and will start taking public input in the next several months.
