EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into EWEB Sunday night, shattering two glass doors and stealing some plants.

Derek Edmond Heiner, 39, left the EWEB property at 500 East Fourth Avenue as security guards arrived, but returned several hours later and was hostile to security.

The EWEB incident happened shortly before 10 p.m. Eugene police officers determined that Heiner was also a suspect in a burglary that night at 10:25 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 777 Coburg Road. A window had been broken and some items stolen from the church.

Heiner was taken to Lane County Jail on two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of first-degree criminal mischief.
