EUGENE, Ore. -- A wanted man was arrested Tuesday night after police served a search warrant at his home in the 1700 block of Riverview Street.

Police said John Frederick Swank, II, 60, of Eugene ran and was tracked down by a police dog at about 8 p.m. He was treated for injuries and lodged at the Lane County Jail.

He has been charged with eluding in a vehicle from a previous incident and is on a Federal hold as part of an ongoing investigation. Swank is on Federal Probation, police said.

During a search, police said they found more than $2,000 and evidence Swank had sold drugs.

Officers allegedly witnessed a suspicious hand-to-hand exchange with another individual on Aug. 22, and police said he was associated with a suspected drug house.

They said he made a traffic violation and drove off when officers attempted to stop his vehicle. The Street Crimes Unit then obtained a warrant.

Additional charges are pending, police said.

The Street Crimes Unit was assisted by Eugene Police SWAT, Special Investigations Unit, K9, Crisis Negotiation Team and Evidence Control Unit, as well as Springfield Police and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
