Arson at Eugene bakery under investigation

A delivery van went up in flames at Sweet Life Bakery Sunday night, police said.

EUGENE, Ore. --  Police are investigating an arson after a delivery van went up in flames at Sweet Life Bakery Sunday night.

Police were called out to the bakery on the corner of 7th Alley and Monroe Street just after 10 p.m. after reports that two dumpsters had been lit on fire and the flames spread to the delivery van.

There is no word yet on a possible suspect.

Police said the van was a total loss, and the damage is estimated at $20,000.

According to Sweet Life's website, operations closed at the end of March.

On April 6 the bakery posted on Facebook they planned to reopen in a couple of weeks for takeout. It is unclear if the fire will affect the bakery's plan.
